Buckle up for a longer ride around Africa, because today we are going to answer the question: “how many countries are there in Africa?!
I intend to write about most of these countries on my website, but that is going to take quite some time to get round to it all, as you can imagine ;-)f
Geographie has always been kind of a passion of mine, trying to learn about all the countries in the world, their capitals, etc.
It can be a challenge, but of course today, we are just going to discuss my favorite continent!

I now have a YouTube channel as well!
YouTubeHello Africa travellers!
Who am I? Well, the least you can say is that I am quite crazy about Africa, its nature, its climate, its culture, and more.
As a young woman in my twenties, I had already traveled to several African countries by traveling along in an overlander on my own and mostly camping ( or glamping ) and just fell in love with the diversity of it all.
So much, so that at the age of 26, I went back to university to study biology, which, unfortunately, I couldn’t finish because of health reasons (yes, I got sick from a tropical disease, oh cynicism). But this did not stop my dream of traveling back to Africa several times, and I still do.
My dream was back then to leave Europe and go study animal behavior, especially the elephants (sure, that’s every girl’s dream haha), but I am also very much intrigued by hyenas and other “ugly African animals“.
So, I “kind of” have a little bit of a scientific approach to my articles, when I write about African birds, for example. And most of all: the passion.
But life goes on, you move from one side of the country to the other, you get sick again and top it off with lower back problems, and before you know it, you are over 50 hahaha!
Now, I still travel to Africa, but take it a bit “easier” than the good old camping days, and stay in comfortable, yet affordable accommodations, together with my husband Wouter.
These are some of the countries I have traveled to: Kenya, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Malawi, Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Tunisia, and a little bit of Lesotho LOL .
While clearly not being African territory, but Spanish, I also visited Gran Canaria and Tenerife, and location-wise, I consider them “African”, because of their climate and nature, sue me :-p
The last trip I took was to South Africa in the year 2023, and it sure got the fevers for Africa back! From the Barberton mountains to the Drakensberg and the Southcoast, one month wasn’t enough at all to see the whole country, so we’ll be back! At ease and with a little bit more luxury than in my younger days haha!
I wish you happy travels!
Kind regards
Lizzy
Very interesting to learn about the countries in Africa. Have always wondered about Africa as maybe possible different from the United States. When I try to find out information about Africa is not accurate, and your information was a great learning experience for me. I have booked marked your website for easy access.

Hi there
You just brought my favourite subject.Im from Africa and have also visited many counties in Africa and must admit there is no better place (for me than Africa)
As said I have visited many countries in Africa.I’m from Kenya, we have the equator and the snow-capped mountains(mount Kenya and Kilimanjaro) not forgetting the Indian ocean.
I have visited Egypt, although I did not feel so much at home, the Egyptian pyramids are a world wonder whichever way you look at it.
I have been to West Africa and felt at home immediately, eating ogbono(sp) or Agdi.
I have been to North Africa several times again loved it there.
So for someone who`s been to Africa on different occasions and also grew up in Africa, I`d advise anyone who`s never been there to visit.
Thanks so much for sharing.
Hi Roamy!
How nice that Africa is your home and that you are happy there! I would be too, I even thought for a while to move!
I have been to Kenya as well and I will soon write some more about your home country 😉
In North Africa, I have only been to Tunisia, but I would sure like to visit other countries in the North!
Further, I have been to Tanzania, Zanzibar, Zimbabwe, Zambia, South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, and Gran Canaria. Next year I hope that the pandemic will be over, so I can travel back to Africa, because I have the “fevers” haha!
thank you for your story!
